A note from "Herself"...

American society today is fundamentally rooted in its "Irishness". This mainly comes into focus on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, when everyone loves to drink green beer and brag about their Irish heritage. This begs the question, "Why do they brag, and why are they so proud?"

Well, 40,000,000 people of Irish descent in the United States can't be wrong! And that is how this website came about. Being a first generation Irish-American, I grew up immersed in Irish culture although we lived in America. I've travelled to Ireland many times over the years & when people want to know something about Ireland, they come to me.

Before I go any further, let me address this point: Sometimes its frustrating for those of Irish descent to see how the Irish are portrayed to the world (and especially America) as a nation of people who REALLY love their drink. That may be true, but there is much, much more to Ireland than a pint of Guinness. We have seen a nation emerge with one of the most booming economies in the EEC and a nation in high demand for its resources, both in the form of people and productivity. We have seen the "Celtic Tiger" emerge and we have also seen a nation where its people really don't emigrate any longer, in fact, Ireland is calling its descendants home.

So I thought to myself, as I surfed the web countless times for Irish information, why not compile what I know, and arrange it in an easy to use and fun way? So this is what I came up with.

I wanted to create a website that was not only a place to shop for Irish goods, but that was a "One Stop Irish Resource". Therefore I added Irish genealogy research information and free Irish downloads such as Celtic wallpaper and free Irish screensavers. We also have an Irish travel information department! Are you planning an Irish wedding? Then visit our online Irish wedding department. Also read Irish jokes & Irish blessings & sayings online.

I will be updating the site often, so keep checking back for " stuff". Also, subscribe to our Irish newsletter. Have a Bit O' Ireland delivered to your email Inbox monthly! Please note that we do NOT share your email address with anyone. CLICK HERE to read our privacy policy.
